LLDPE

Jam Petrochemical's LLDPE unit was designed and built under BASELL licence, with basic engineering by TECNIMONT and SPHERILENE technology. Producing 300,000 tons a year, it is one of Iran's largest polymer units, able to make both linear low-density and high-density polyethylene and capable of producing more than 60 different grades.

Once prepared and mixed with TEAL for activation and DONOR to control stereoregularity, the catalyst enters the precontact reactor. After activation it passes into the first of the four reactors — two loop reactors and two gas-phase reactors. There the catalyst reacts with feed that has been fully purified in the purification section.

After polymerisation, and in order to deactivate the remaining catalyst and separate off hydrocarbons, the powder produced is sent to the STEAMER section. Having been brought into contact with steam and dried with nitrogen in the Drying section, the powder is stored in the powder silo and then sent to the extruder, where it is blended with the required additives, converted into granules and packed in 25-kilogram bags.
